World champion reveals desire to become a coach

2010 World Cup champion for Spain, former midfielder Andrés Iniesta stated that he wants to become a coach

Former midfielder Andrés Iniesta, one of the players who was part of the Spanish squad that won the World Cup in 2010, revealed his desire to become a coach. A legend at Barcelona, ​​the former footballer won multiple titles during his career in the sport. 

The 40-year-old former athlete ended his playing career in October 2024, after a stint at Emirates Club. After retiring, the Spaniard became an investor in the Norwegian Third Division club FC Helsingor.

In addition to the behind-the-scenes moves, Iniesta wants to stay close to the pitch and said he wants to become a coach. “It’s still a long way off. I’m in the initial process. But I like it and would like to become one (a coach),” he said in an interview with El País. 

Many of Andrés’ former teammates have become coaches. Among them are: Xabi Alonso (Bayer Leverkusen), Cesc Fàbregas (FC Como), Thiago Motta (free market), Mikel Arteta (Arsenal), Luis Enrique (PSG).
