Spanish newspaper praised veteran Brazilian players who stood out in the Club World Cup, held in the United States

Guarda-redes Fábio, 44, and defender Thiago Silva, 40, both from Fluminense, were praised by the international press. The Brazilian team only conceded two goals in the Club World Cup. As a result, it is tied with Palmeiras e Real Madrid as the second best defense in the competition.

The Spanish newspaper As highlighted the performance of the Rio de Janeiro duo in the competition and pointed out that the athletes are ‘an 84-year-old wall’. “Fábio and Thiago Silva, two of the most veteran players in the World Cup, took Fluminense to the quarterfinals. Key players for Renato Gaúcho”, it states.

The outlet pointed out that age has not hindered the athletes and praised the Fluminense duo for their attitude on the field. “Thiago Silva and Fábio want to continue writing their careers with another memorable performance this Friday, against Al-Hilal. Because if they have shown anything, it is that attitude, and not age, makes the difference. And with that, they are outstanding”, it added.
