Co-founder of the Reddit communications platform, businessman Alexis Kerry Ohanian has bought 10% of the shares of Chelsea Women

American businessman Alexis Kerry Ohanian, husband of former tennis player Serena Williams, has become one of the investors in the Chelsea women’s team in England. Co-founder of the Reddit communications platform, he acquired 10% of the shares of Chelsea Women.
The 42-year-old American paid 20 million pounds (approximately R$150.6 million at the exchange rate) for the deal. With this, Ohanian expands his investment portfolio in the world of sports. He is also a shareholder in Angel City (soccer), Los Angeles Golf Club (golf), ATHLOS (athletics).
On social media, Alexis celebrated the purchase and said he is excited about the project. “These players are rewriting the game. Unbeaten season. Eyes on the treble. But it’s not just about winning titles. It’s about finally matching their talent with the resources, visibility and respect they deserve. I’ve been right about this before and I couldn’t be more excited,” he wrote.
Chelsea Women were crowned Women’s Super League champions, 12 points ahead of runners-up Arsenal. They also won the FA Women’s League Cup with a 2-1 win over Manchester City in the final. They are also in the Women’s FA Cup final against Manchester United. The match will be played this Sunday (18/5), at 9:30 am (Brasília time), at Wembley Stadium, in London.
