Romário praises striker and recommends him for the Brazilian National Team: ‘shirt 9’

Brazilian football legend Romário is enchanted by the 22-year-old striker, who is enjoying a great run of form on the pitch.

The Brazilian national team may be about to find its new number 9. During CazeTV’s broadcast of the Club World Cup, former player Romário was full of praise for a young striker who has been shining on the pitch.

The legendary number 11 praised young Chelsea striker João Pedro. The Brazilian’s performance in the competition, especially in the final stages, caught the attention of the Yellow and Yellows’ top scorer, who stated: “We’re starting to see a number 9 emerge for our Brazilian national team.”

João Pedro, just 22 years old, is enjoying the best phase of his career. After excelling at Brighton, he was signed by the Blues in a multi-million dollar deal and is already starting to justify the investment. It’s worth noting that he finished the World Cup as one of the team’s top scorers, with three goals in four matches.

Numbers that prove his good form

The Brazilian striker made his Chelsea debut against Palmeiras, putting in a standout performance despite not finding the net. He then scored in the semifinals and the final, helping the Blues win the World Cup.

This season, his numbers are impressive: 13 goals and 7 assists in 33 appearances for Brighton before his transfer. Therefore, his quick adaptation to a club of Chelsea’s stature is impressive and strengthens his reputation in the race for a spot on the national team.

Romário praises João Pedro

When an idol like Romário recognizes the talent of a young center forward, it’s because there’s something truly special. “The kid could end up inheriting the number 9 shirt for the national team soon,” said the short one, reinforcing his confidence in João Pedro’s potential.

Furthermore, the shortage of number 9 shirts with classic characteristics has been a concern for Brazil in recent years. Therefore, João emerges as a promising alternative for the attacking sector. With this, the striker is gaining prominence not only in Europe but also on the national team’s radar.
