Palmeiras loses striker for duel with Atlético in the Brazilian Championship

Palmeiras will host Atlético at Allianz Parque on Sunday, starting at 5:30 pm, for the 15th round of the Brazilian Championship

Flaco López will not be available for Abel Ferreira’s Palmeiras-Atlético match. The forward received his third yellow card in the 1-1 draw with Mirassol on Wednesday (July 16th) at Allianz Parque and will be out of action.

The match against Atlético, part of the 15th round of the Brazilian Championship, is scheduled for this Sunday (20). Kick-off starts at 5:30 pm (Brasília time) at Allianz Parque. Flaco López was cautioned by Savio Pereira Sampaio late in the second half, in the 42nd minute. He kicked the ball hard in front of the referee and received a yellow card. This was Palmeiras’ only yellow card.

Besides him, Bruno Fuchs, Piquerez, and Vitor Roque were suspended, but they all came through unharmed. Until the next match, Palmeiras will try to recover Murilo and Giay, who are recovering from a left thigh injury and a right knee sprain, to reduce the number of absences. Striker Bruno Rodrigues, in physical transition, is looking forward to returning to the team.

Palmeiras opened the scoring nine minutes into the second half with a goal from Facundo Torres. They then conceded the equalizer in the 26th minute. Chico da Costa, making his debut for Leão, scored past Weverton. With the draw against Mirassol, Palmeiras missed the chance to return to the top four of the Brasileirão. Verdão remains in fifth place with 23 points, having played a game less than the clubs ahead of them in the standings.
