The Spanish newspaper El Norte de Castilla stated that former player Ronaldo Fenômeno should close a deal to sell Real Valladolid soon. The former owner of Cruzeiro’s Sociedade Anónima de Futebol (SAF) is the majority shareholder of the Spanish club.
In 2018, the five-time world champion acquired 51% of the shares and later increased the percentage to 82. The former player had already considered negotiating Real Valladolid on other occasions. In 2024, the club’s spokesperson admitted that there were offers, but that Ronaldo gave up on moving forward with the talks.
Real Valladolid is in last place in LaLiga (Spanish First Division), with 16 points. With eight rounds remaining in the competition, the team is fighting to get out of the relegation zone. The team is 14 points behind the first placed team outside the relegation zone, Alavés (17th).
