Liverpool beat Tottenham 5-1 at Anfield and equal the number of titles won by rival Manchester United in the English Championship.
Liverpool is the champion of the 2024/25 season of the Premier League. This Sunday (27/4), the Reds beat Tottenham 5-1 at Anfield, in the 34th round. The home team’s goals were scored by Luis Díaz, Mac Allister, Cody Gakpo, Mohamed Salah and Udogie (own goal). Solanke scored for Spurs. Thus, Liverpool won the 20th English Championship title, the first in front of their fans in over 35 years. In 2020, the Reds won the tournament, but without the presence of fans, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Furthermore, Liverpool are now level with their arch-rival Manchester United in terms of the number of English Championship titles, with 20 wins.
Liverpool will only have to play catch-up from now on. The team led by Salah and Brazilian Alisson will lift the Premier League trophy on May 25, when they will play their last match at Anfield, this time against Crystal Palace. The team’s next match is next Sunday (4/5), when they visit Chelsea.
Tottenham, 16th in the Premier League with 37 points, will focus on the Europa League semi-final. This Thursday (1/5), Spurs will host Bodo/Glimt from Norway in the first leg of the duel.
