Despite the victory, Juventude remains in the relegation zone of Série A, as does bottom-placed Sport.
On Monday (7/14), in the 13th round of the Brazilian Championship Series A, Juventude hosted Sport at Alfredo Jaconi Stadium, in Caxias do Sul, and won 2-0. Both goals for the home team were scored by Gilberto.
With the positive result, the team led by Claudio Tencati returned to winning ways after two draws and six losses and reached 11 points. The team, despite still being in the relegation zone, jumped to 17th place, with the same number of points as Santos, the first team outside the Z4, and one less than São Paulo, which is in 15th. Sport remains winless in the competition.
The team is in last place, with only three points. Juventude returns to the field next Sunday (20), against Cruzeiro, in the 15th round of the Brasileirão. The ball rolls at 4 pm (Brasília time), at Mineirão. On the same day and round, but at 5:30 pm, Sport hosts Botafogo at Ilha do Retiro.
The goals
Juventude’s first goal came in the 11th minute. Gilberto received Reginaldo’s cross and headed it into the net. Three minutes into the second half, the striker scored again. With Bill’s assist, he made no mistake, sending a shot past goalkeeper Gabriel.
