France Football magazine, creator of the Ballon d’Or, released details about the awards ceremony on Monday (19/5). The event will be held on September 22nd of this year at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, France.
In addition to electing the best footballers on the planet, the award includes other categories, such as best goalkeeper, top scorer, among others. In this edition, all trophies that were previously awarded only to men will also be awarded to women.
The names of the players nominated for the Ballon d’Or will be released in the first half of August. Last season, Spanish midfielder Rodri, from Manchester City, and Spanish forward Aitana Bonmatí, from Barcelona, were elected the best in the world.
In 2023/2024, Brazilian striker Vini Jr., from Real Madrid, was considered by many to be the favorite to win the Ballon d’Or. This season, Brazil also has a player who could compete for the award from the French magazine.
Barcelona’s attacking midfielder Raphinha is one of the top athletes in European football in 2024/2025. The number 11 has played 62 games (Brazil and Barcelona) this season, with 34 goals and 23 assists. The Brazilian player was champion of La Liga (Spanish Championship), Copa del Rey, semi-finalist and top scorer in the Champions League.
