Legend former Real Madrid coach Leo Beenhakker has died at the age of 82, the club announced on Thursday. The Dutch coach was in charge of the Spanish capital giants between 1986 and 1989 and in 1992, winning three La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey and two Spanish Super Cups.
“Real Madrid C.F., its president and its board of directors deeply regret the passing of Leo Beenhakker,” the club said in a statement on its website.
Beenhakker had an extensive European club career, including spells at Ajax and Feyenoord in the Netherlands. He was also coach of the national teams of the Netherlands, Trinidad and Tobago, Saudi Arabia and Poland.
