The Blues beat Tottenham in the English championship and enter the qualifying zone for the Champions League.
Chelsea won the derby against Tottenham, 1-0, in the 30th round of the Premier League, this Thursday (3/4). At Stamford Bridge, Enzo Maresca’s team secured the victory, with a goal by Enzo Fernández. With the result, Chelsea rose to fourth place and entered the qualifying zone for the Champions League, with 52 points, overtaking Manchester City, which has 51.
Tottenham reached its fourth game without a win in the English championship and remains in 14th place, with the same 34 points as Everton and West Ham. The two teams play again this Sunday (6/4), in the 31st round of the English Championship, at 10 am (Brasília time). Chelsea faces Brentford, while Tottenham hosts Southampton.
In a goalless first half, Chelsea were superior, but struggled to finish off their plays. Tottenham, on the other hand, were unable to cope with the pressure from their opponents and, in the few opportunities they had in attack, failed to take advantage of their chances to score.
In the second half, after just five minutes, Palmer crossed into the penalty area and Enzo Fernández opened the scoring for Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. In the 16th minute, Caicedo managed to score the second goal for the home team, but the player was in an offside position and the goal was disallowed.
The referee also disallowed what would have been Tottenham’s equalizer in the 24th minute, after VAR identified a foul at the start of the play. The visitors tried to react at the end, but were unable to prevent Chelsea from winning the English Championship.
