O Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) announced the deadline to announce the new coach for the Brazilian National Team. According to the organization, the goal is to hire the replacement for the dismissed Dorival Júnior before the next FIFA Date, in June. Brazil has been without a coach since last Friday (28/3).

At this time, the strongest name to take over the position is that of the Portuguese Jorge Jesus, from Al-Hilal, in Saudi Arabia. Other options considered are the Italian Carlo Ancelotti (Real Madrid, Spain) and the also Portuguese José Mourinho (Fenerbahçe, Turkey) and Abel Ferreira (Palmeiras).

CBF President Ednaldo Rodrigues met this Friday (4/4) with the coordinator of the men’s national teams, Rodrigo Caetano, and the technical coordinator Juan Santos, to discuss the choice of the new coach. “We will soon announce the name of the coach, in time to make the call-up for the two qualifying games, on the FIFA date in June”, pointed out Ednaldo.

The FIFA date in June reserves matches against Ecuador away from home and Paraguay at home, for rounds 15 and 16 of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, respectively. The games will be in the weeks of the 5th and 10th.

“As soon as we have this defined by the president, we will begin negotiations to announce the name of the new coach of the Brazilian National Team as soon as possible”, declared Rodrigo Caetano.
