Loan agreement valid until June 30, 2026 and includes a purchase option; salary will be paid by Barça
Barcelona officially announced this Wednesday (July 23) the signing of English striker Marcus Rashford on loan from Manchester United, with a future purchase option. “FC Barcelona and Manchester United have reached an agreement for the loan of Marcus Rashford until June 30, 2026. The agreement also includes an option to purchase the English striker,” Barça said in its statement.
According to the Spanish press, Barça will cover 100% of Rashford’s salary, which is 350,000 pounds sterling (R$ 2.6 million at the current exchange rate) per week. Manchester United manager, Portuguese Rúben Amorin, had already made it clear that he did not count on the 27-year-old player, who played the second half of the 2024/2025 season at Aston Villa on loan.
Rashford’s Career
Rashford, who made his professional debut for the Red Devils in 2015, lost his place at Old Trafford after Amorim publicly questioned his commitment and attitude. A product of United’s youth academy, the striker made his last appearance for the Manchester club in December in the Premier League. In total, he made 426 appearances and scored 138 goals. For Aston Villa, he scored four goals in 17 games before suffering a thigh injury in April, which ruled him out for the rest of the season.
