Former Bayern Munich star Thomas Muller reaches agreement with new club

An idol of the Bavarian club, the striker is close to joining the Vancouver Whitecaps, from Canada, who play in Major League Soccer.

After leaving Bayern Munich at the end of last season, striker Thomas Muller is expected to sign with the Vancouver Whitecaps in Canada. The 35-year-old German has decided to join the North American team for two years, according to journalist Tom Bogert and Ben Jacobs. The Canadian team currently sits second in the MLS Western Conference standings with 45 points in 24 games.

Muller’s Mark

A Bayern Munich idol, Muller left the team in June at the end of his contract, which was not renewed by the club. The attacking midfielder played for the team for 17 years and won two Champions League titles, as well as 13 German Championship titles.

With 250 goals, Muller is the third-highest scorer in Bayern’s history, behind only Lewandowski and Gerd Muller. In addition to his trophies with the club, the midfielder was also a key player in Germany’s 2014 World Cup-winning squad. He even scored the first goal in the historic 7-1 rout of Brazil in the tournament.
