S\u00e3o Paulo<\/strong> secured a crucial 2-0 victory in the derby against Corinthians<\/strong> this Saturday at Morumbis Stadium, in the 15th round of the Brazilian Championship. Luciano scored both goals. With the result, S\u00e3o Paulo<\/strong>, which started the weekend as the first team outside the relegation zone, temporarily moved away from the group of the last four and now awaits Sunday’s matches to determine its position at the end of the round. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Corinthians, meanwhile, missed the opportunity to move closer to the top six, the group that guarantees a spot in the next edition of the Copa Libertadores. S\u00e3o Paulo returns to action next Thursday, when they visit Juventude at 7 pm (Bras\u00edlia time) in the Brazilian Championship. Corinthians will face Cruzeiro at 7:30 pm on Wednesday in Itaquera, also in the points-based competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Luciano, the hero of the first half<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just 15 minutes in, S\u00e3o Paulo suffered a severe blow. After losing Enzo D\u00edaz due to an illness during the warm-up, coach Hern\u00e1n Crespo saw Oscar leave the game after a hard fall, injuring his back. Still, S\u00e3o Paulo managed to threaten Corinthians with Arboleda, who took advantage of a rebound from a corner kick to fire a first-time shot that flew just over the crossbar. Later, Angileri and Talles Magno were also called upon by Dorival J\u00fanior, but Corinthians’ attack lacked creativity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

They even began to have more possession in the final stretch of the game, partly due to the need to seek an equalizer, but they failed to attack S\u00e3o Paulo.
