On Tuesday, December 10, the CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation) sent a letter to CONMEBOL advocating for Bras\u00edlia as the host city for the 2025 Copa Libertadores final. The request was made after CONMEBOL president Alejandro Dom\u00ednguez stated at the 2025 Super Club World Cup draw that the final could return to Brazil. The single-match final in a neutral venue began in 2019, and Brazil has hosted the match twice, both in Rio de Janeiro. The first was in 2020, when Palmeiras won 1-0 against Santos at Maracan\u00e3. The second was three years later, in 2023, when Fluminense defeated Boca Juniors 2-1, also at Maracan\u00e3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the two finals in Rio, Lima, Peru, hosted the 2019 final, Montevideo, Uruguay, hosted the 2021 final, Guayaquil, Ecuador, was the venue in 2022, and, more recently, Buenos Aires hosted the final match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As an argument, the CBF points out that Bras\u00edlia has a viable air network for both domestic and international flights to accommodate a large number of visitors, a vast hotel infrastructure to support fans, and it won’t face scheduling conflicts involving Brazilian clubs, as occurred in 2023 at Maracan\u00e3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
