Goiás achieved a thrilling 2-1 victory over Ceará on Monday (12), in the 20th round of the Brazilian Série B Championship. In a match held at Serrinha, the Esmeraldino team relied on the star performance of goalkeeper Tadeu, who scored both of the team’s goals, both from penalties, securing the comeback win at home.
The game began with Ceará dominating and opening the scoring early at 12 minutes, with Aylon taking advantage of a rebound from Tadeu to make it 1-0 for Vozão. Goiás tried to respond and equalized before halftime, at 33 minutes, when Tadeu converted the first penalty, leveling the score.
In the second half, Ceará had opportunities to regain the lead but missed clear chances, including a shot from Erick Pulga that narrowly missed the post. Goiás also pressured but was thwarted by Ceará’s defense until injury time, when the referee awarded another penalty to the home team.
Tadeu stepped up once more to take the penalty and did not disappoint, turning the game around for Goiás and sealing the victory. With this result, Goiás moved up to ninth place with 28 points, while Ceará remained in seventh place with 29 points, missing the chance to close in on the G-4.
In the next round, Goiás will face Ponte Preta on Friday (16), while Ceará will seek redemption against Mirassol on Saturday (17). BB score, the best in the field.
