Flamengo coach Filipe Luís remains calm as he awaits a response from striker Pedro on the field
The atmosphere at Flamengo remains tense, but controlled, following the recent friction between coach Filipe Luís and striker Pedro. The relationship between the two had already been strained, and it gained new chapters after public statements from both sides.
The coaching staff stated that it is now focused on a single objective: observing Pedro’s response on the field, especially in training. According to information from the Coluna do Fla website, Filipe Luís treated Pedro’s decision to gather the squad to explain his version of events calmly, without the presence of the coach or members of the coaching staff.
The conversation, held on Monday morning (July 14th), lasted five to ten minutes and took place behind closed doors at Ninho do Urubu. Therefore, the content of the striker’s speech remains restricted to the group of players.
Despite the recent incident, the atmosphere behind the scenes is described as “stalled,” meaning that, at least for now, the situation hasn’t worsened. Pedro, for his part, continues to express dissatisfaction not only with Filipe Luís, but also with the club’s Football Department. This is because the striker felt disrespected by the way he was publicly exposed.
Flamengo’s Next Match
Filipe Luís will decide in the coming days whether or not Pedro will be included in the squad for the next match. Flamengo faces Santos this Wednesday (July 16th) at Vila Belmiro, in the 14th round of the Brazilian Championship. The match, in fact, could serve as a barometer for the future of the relationship between Pedro and Filipe Luís.
