Absent from trial, Dudu receives a six-game suspension and a R$90,000 fine for misogynistic insults to Palmeiras president Leila Pereira
By unanimous decision, Atlético striker Dudu was suspended for six games by the Superior Court of Sports Justice (July 18) for misogynistic insults directed at Palmeiras president Leila Pereira. The 33-year-old player was also fined R$90,000. The penalty is effective immediately.
Dudu submitted a video to the Superior Court of Justice (STJD) justifying his absence from the trial. This Thursday, the 33-year-old striker was on the field for Atlético’s 1-0 victory over Bucaramanga in Colombia in the Copa Sudamericana playoffs.
In the footage shown during the hearing, Dudu also apologized to the women for the insults directed at the Palmeiras president. “I wanted to clarify the reason for my absence from the court, which I greatly respect, because I am working for my profession. I would like to apologize to all the women who felt offended by my remarks. I apologize to all women,” Dudu stated.
