Cruzeiro players return from vacation this Friday (6/27), and the coaching staff plans training for a heavy sequence of commitments – official and not
After a 15-day vacation, Cruzeiro players will return to Toca da Raposa 2, in Belo Horizonte, this Friday (6/27). The work over the next few days will focus on improving their physical condition for the intense series of official and non-official matches until the beginning of August, involving the Vitória Cup, Campeonato Brasileiro 和 Copa do Brasil.
Starting this Friday, Cruzeiro players will train until the day they leave for Espírito Santo, on July 2 (Wednesday). In Grande Vitória, Cruzeiro will play the Vitória Cup, a friendly tournament organized by Desportiva Ferroviária. There will be two games, both against Argentines. Next Thursday (7/3), Raposa will face Defensa Y Justicia, starting at 8:00 p.m., at Kleber Andrade, in Cariacica. Then, on July 6 (Sunday), the Celestes will face Banfield, at 4:00 p.m., at the same venue.
The competition will not have a champion, but the winners of each match will be awarded a trophy – a draw will therefore lead to penalties. Cruzeiro will likely return to Belo Horizonte after the last game in Espírito Santos. Then, preparations for the official matches will begin. As detailed by coach Leonardo Jardim, all Cruzeiro athletes received a fitness plan to use during the holidays. This was the way the committee found to ensure that the group did not lose too much rhythm and could easily return to training.
Intense sequence of games
Between the first friendly and August 9 (or 10, depending on the decision of the Brazilian Football Confederation), Cruzeiro will have a maximum of four days of rest between one match and another – in most cases, three. There will be 11 games in 38 days, an average of one duel every 72 hours.
