The Corinthians have officially announced the signing of forward Talles Magno, 22, from New York City FC. The young Brazilian talent joins the São Paulo club on a one-year loan, with a purchase option clause set at US$ 13.5 million (approximately R$ 78 million).

If Corinthians decide not to exercise the purchase option at the end of the loan, the club will pay US$ 1.5 million (around R$ 8.2 million) to New York City FC for Talles Magno’s time with the team. The contract also includes performance-related goals that, if achieved, may compel Corinthians to finalize the purchase of the player.

Acquired by New York City FC in 2021 for around R$ 60 million, Talles Magno is under contract with the American club until the end of 2026. The player’s desire to return to Brazil and play for Corinthians was a decisive factor in the successful negotiations, which had been ongoing for the past two weeks.

Talles Magno’s arrival is seen as a crucial reinforcement for Corinthians’ attacking sector, which is still seeking another forward in the market. The São Paulo club has already made an offer of US$ 8 million (around R$ 45 million) to sign Gonzalo Plata from Al-Sadd, although negotiations have been challenging.

Although he does not fit the profile desired by Corinthians’ main sponsor, which set aside R$ 57 million for the acquisition of a player with high media impact, Talles Magno’s arrival is viewed as a strategic bet. He played minimally this year due to a knee injury but has recently returned to action, participating in three matches in the past few weeks.

Revealed by Vasco da Gama, Talles Magno was part of the Brazilian national team that won the U-17 World Cup in 2019. His return to Brazil also attracted interest from clubs like Atlético-MG and his former club Vasco. More details only in BBscore.
