Ancelotti speaks out about his son's signing with Botafogo

Davide Ancelotti took over at the Rio de Janeiro club after the dismissal of Portuguese Renato Paiva

Brazilian national team coach Carlo Ancelotti wished his son, Davide Ancelotti, luck as he takes over as Botafogo coach. The announcement of the deal between the Italian and Fogão was published on Tuesday (July 8).

“Best of luck in your new adventure. We will follow you closely with all the love in the world. Stay strong,” said Ancelotti, who posted a photo of his son with the Botafogo crest. Davide takes over at the Rio de Janeiro club after the dismissal of Portuguese coach Renato Paiva. The Portuguese coach was dismissed after the team’s elimination to Palmeiras in the round of 16 of the Club World Cup on June 28 at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, United States.

His time at Botafogo will mark Davide’s first experience as a head coach. He served as his father’s assistant throughout his career. The 35-year-old Italian has signed with the Rio de Janeiro club until the end of 2026. In June of this year, he was hired by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) to join the national team’s coaching staff.
