Spanish women’s football player Jenni Hermoso has issued a public apology following her remarks about the match against the Brazilian women’s team in the semifinals of the Paris 2024 Olympics
In an interview with the Spanish newspaper Relevo, Hermoso stated: “If at any point someone felt offended, I apologize, but I don’t believe we disrespected anyone. We want to continue enjoying football, and what happens on the field should stay there. Fans and social media should not create a conflict that benefits no one.”
Hermoso added: “It is true that when you make post-match statements, they are often taken out of context and people interpret them as an attack.”
The controversy involving Jenni Hermoso began after the Spanish player commented, shortly after Brazil’s 4-2 victory over Spain in the women’s football semifinal at the Olympics, that “[…] We conceded four goals to a team that, for me, does not play football, but in the end, what matters are the goals.” Stay tune on BB score.
