Ronaldo Fenômeno projects the National Team in the 2026 World Cup: ‘I think it will be difficult to win’

Former player showed optimism about Ancelotti’s arrival, but highlighted that other teams are arriving at a better time for the World Cup

Five-time World Cup champion in 2002, former Brazilian National Team striker Ronaldo Fenômeno spoke about the team’s chance of winning the trophy in the competition in 2026. The former player praised the arrival of Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti in Brazil and highlighted his good relationship with the commander.

“This guy is a phenomenon. One of the coolest that football has ever introduced me to,” Léo Dias told the website. However, despite his optimism about the signing of the European, Ronaldo stated that he thinks it is unlikely that the National Team will be able to win its sixth World Cup in 2026.

“I think it will be difficult to win the World Cup. Other teams are more in tune and have had coaches for longer. But I hope they have this outcome (winning the World Cup). The World Cup brings immense joy to the Brazilian people,” he added.

Presented by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) on May 26, Ancelotti led Brazil in the FIFA World Cup in June, for the South American Qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup. The National Team drew 0-0 with Ecuador on 5/6 in Guayaquil and beat Paraguay 1-0 with a goal by striker Vini Jr. on 10/6 in São Paulo.

The results secured Brazil’s place in the World Cup. The team is in third place in the Qualifiers, with 25 points. The team is behind Ecuador (2nd – 25) and Argentina (1st – 35) in the table. Brazil’s next matches in the competition will be in September, against Chile and Bolivia.
