According to the Spanish newspaper Marca, in his testimony, the Brazilian said that he did not know what the act meant and feared for his safety and that of his family. \u201cIt was a very sad day for me,\u201d said Vini, stating that the fans acted in this way because of the color of his skin. In response, Real fans applauded the Brazilian in the 20th minute of the game, the number the player was wearing at the time.
