The football season in Portugal began in thrilling fashion with Porto winning the Portuguese Supercup in a memorable match against Sporting. The Portistas achieved an impressive comeback after trailing 3-0 and emerged victorious with a 4-3 scoreline in extra time, with Brazilian Galeno scoring two decisive goals.

Sporting started the match in Aveiro with a bang, taking the lead in the sixth minute through Gonçalo Inácio. Just three minutes later, Pote extended the lead, and Geovany Quenda made it 3-0, putting the Lisbon side in a comfortable position. However, Porto was not intimidated and began their comeback in the 28th minute of the first half, with Galeno taking advantage of a defensive error to reduce the deficit.

In the second half, Porto came out determined to change the course of the game. In the 64th minute, Nico González scored following a cross into the area, rekindling hope for the Portistas. Just two minutes later, Galeno struck again, finishing off a play from Eustaquio to level the score. With the game tied at 3-3, it went to extra time.
