The Norwegian forward establishes himself as one of the greatest names in world football.

Haaland: an unstoppable record-breaking machine in England

“He is unstoppable.” That’s how Pep Guardiola referred to Erling Haaland, the Manchester City striker who keeps scoring goals and breaking records. In the last round of the Premier League before the international break, he added three more goals to his tally. Uncover top football updates at live sports score.

After scoring yet another hat-trick against West Ham, Haaland reached eight in the English league, matching the number achieved by legends Thierry Henry, Michael Owen, and Harry Kane, but in significantly fewer games. Henry needed 258 matches to reach the milestone, while Owen and Kane needed 320 and 326 games, respectively. Haaland achieved it in just 69 games.

This was also the second time the striker has scored two consecutive hat-tricks in the Premier League, against Ipswich Town and West Ham—only he and Harry Kane have managed this feat more than once. In total, Haaland is now only behind Sergio Aguero, Alan Shearer, and Robbie Fowler, with 12, 11, and 9 hat-tricks, respectively.

With an incredible seven goals in the first three games of the current Premier League season, Manchester City’s number 9 has reached 70 goals in 69 games, almost double the number of the second-place player since arriving in England—Mohamed Salah, with 39.

The all-time top scorer in the English league is Alan Shearer with 260 goals. Although Haaland is still far from this record, there is no doubt that he could achieve it if he stays in England for longer, especially when considering the goals-per-game ratio: 0.62 for Shearer versus 1.01 for the Norwegian.
