Germany won today (September 9) against Spain in the bronze medal match of the women’s football tournament at the Paris 2024 Olympics. The game took place at the Lyon stadium, and the winning goal for the Germans was scored by midfielder Gwinn.

In the first half, Spain and Germany alternated periods of dominance. Early on, Germany had more control, but they couldn’t create a clear chance, while Spain dominated the final minutes and even hit the crossbar with a shot from the best player in the world, Bonmati.

In the second half, both teams continued to fight for control, but Germany created more dangerous opportunities, especially through quick plays and long passes. In one such play, midfielder Gwinn was launched into the area and was fouled by Spanish goalkeeper Catar Coll, resulting in a penalty. Gwinn herself took the penalty kick, outwitting the goalkeeper to open the scoring in the 19th minute.

Spain tried to equalize but struggled to develop their game against the German defense. However, Germany faced a scare: in the last minute of stoppage time, midfielder Minge fouled Garcia in the area, resulting in another penalty. Putellas took the penalty but was denied by goalkeeper Berger, who saved it by diving to the side.

The bronze medal went to the Germans, marking their first medal in the event since their gold medal win in Rio. The gold medal match will be decided tomorrow (August 10) between Brazil and the USA, at 12:00 p.m. Never miss a game again with BB score.
